About us
Nurture is to care and protect something or someone whilst they are growing. Nurture Space is founded upon the belief that children need a nurturing environment to allow them to develop social, emotional communication skills and understanding. They need a safe space to be able to make mistakes, accept them, to move on and learn from them.
We believe that every child has the capacity to engage with learning and that by developing their personal resilience and self confidence they can take a pride in what they are able to achieve and that it should be celebrated.
Behaviour is a communication
All behaviour is a communication, often the opposite from what you might expect.
Nurture Space tries to see beyond the behaviour to see and hear what is being communicated and why.
Connection not disconnection
When confronted with challenging behaviour it is easy to disconnect.
At Nurture Space we believe that rebuilding connections is the only way to support children.

There is a growing understanding of the need to support children with their mental health and wellbeing. Since COVID, the numbers of children experiencing difficulties has increased dramatically. More is now understood about how trauma and adverse childhood experiences have a major impact on how children feel, behave and develop.
Many children find it difficult to manage their emotions and feelings which can often lead to dysregulation and challenging behaviour. This can be difficult for the child but also impacts on friendships, families and those trying to teach and educate them. Often dysregulated and challenging behaviour works to disconnect a child from those that are there to support them.
Nurture Space works to re-build these connections to enable children to get the support they need.
Nurture Space is committed to helping children and young people, in being able to recognise their feelings and emotions, communicate these, begin to self-regulate and most importantly, build and rebuild connections with others.
Our experience

Nurture Space Ltd was formed by Ruth Moor, after working in the education sector for over 20 years as a primary school teacher, SENCo, senior leader and Head teacher for 7 years. Over that time, Ruth has been committed to working with children who found mainstream school a challenge and worked alongside other professionals and families to look beyond the behaviour being presented to try and discover the emotions and feelings behind it. Thorough this work she has helped many children start to heal, re-engage, communicate and start to trust again allowing them to make progress with their learning.
Ruth is currently training to be a Child Play Therapist and has studied on the Nurture UK Theory and Practice course enabling her to utilise SDQ’s and Boxhall® assessments to inform her work with children. She has also undertaken Therapeutic Teacher training from TPC, Teaching Positive Connections.
As a senior leader in several schools, SENCo and headteacher, Ruth has helped to train, coach and mentor many staff in schools on the therapeutic and trauma informed approaches of working with children and supporting their needs.
Ruth is passionate about the work that she does and is continually updating her knowledge and skills with new ways to support children in a therapeutic way. She is building a team of qualified teachers and support staff who also have extensive experience of working with and supporting children who struggle with their emotions and feelings.
