Staff CPD

The dedication that teachers and support staff show every day can rarely be questioned. They want the very best for the children they teach and do all they can to achieve this. Teachers are lovers of learning and personal development is often high on their list of priorities within their professional lives. Challenging behaviour is often one of the top areas that school staff say they would like further support with.
At Nurture Space, we offer bespoke CPD training to schools for staff meetings and INSET days. These sessions can be tailor made for any school and size of group and can focus on a variety of areas providing information and advice on how to support children displaying challenging behaviour.
Understanding Attachment
Attachment refers to the way in which individuals relate to others. British psychoanalyst and psychologist, John Bowlby carried out extensive research into attachment in the 1950's and how early attachments between young infants and prime caregivers can influence later child development and mental health.
Understanding attachment is often key to understanding how the children we work with behave. Understanding why children behave they way they do allows us to plan for betters ways to support them.
Nurture Space CPD session on Understanding Attachment will lead staff through:
-
Developing an understanding of why attachment is so important
-
Understanding the 4 different attachment styles and how each style impacts on the way children behave.
-
How to support children with attachment needs in practical ways
All of our CPD sessions can be adapted for small group sizes as well as larger ones. We work with each school to discuss the specific areas you want to to focus upon. We want all participants to find the training informative and useful. Contact us today to discuss your CPD needs and how we can help.

Planning for challenging behaviour
Children can display a variety of different challenging behaviours. When planning to manage these, it is vital that behaviours are unpicked to examine 'why' a child is behaving a specific way. Usually it is due to an unmet need. Once that need is established, you can plan for reducing behaviour rather than just dealing with the outcomes.
Nurture Space staff are experienced and knowledgeable about a range of different Therapeutic behaviour strategies. We can support staff in putting in place practical strategies based upon these.
We offer bespoke CPD training for both teaching staff, support staff and midday supervisors, focusing on the challenging behaviour needs in your school. We support staff in being able to unpick a child's behaviour and consider any unmet need. We can help to develop a plan to support that need working within your schools behaviour policy.
Our training is always bespoke to every school and it is important to meet and talk through what areas of training would be useful to focus upon. Contact us today to arrange a conversation about your schools training needs.
